We provide BS 7858 screening services with three levels of security vetting ranging from the base level of financial screening through to full employment history and reference checks.

Level 1 - financial background screening
Price £19 + £3.80 VAT
The base level of screening covers the latest BS 7858:2006 requirements for financial background screening. A copy of our Level 1 screening report can be viewed here (opens a new window) example of the standard employee screening report.
Our Level 1 screening will identify the following information:
- Address and identity verifications
- County Court Judgments (last 6 years)
- Bankruptcy or Insolvency (last 6 years)
- Adverse credit searches
- Public Electoral Register checks
- Identification of financial accounts registered on Insight
- Date of birth verifications
- Any alias names used
- Verification if the individual is listed for HM Treasury Sanctions

Level 2 - five year history check
In addition to the Level 1 screening we verify the employee/applicant history for the last 5 (or 10) years including any gaps in employment in accordance with the latest BS 7858:2006 standard
To minimise employer cost we first validate the employee/applicant with Level 1 screening, if the person is deemed to have failed at Level 1 we will not proceed further and you will not be charged for additional history verifications.
If required we can also cover character references within our Level 1, BS 7858 security screening.
Timescales for completion are 2 to 6 weeks depending on the number of references to be verified.
BPSS - Baseline Personnel Security Standard
BPSS screening is a requirement for staff vetting prior to NSV, National Security Vetting (you can read more about NSV security vetting here). The latest Cabinet Office standard is used for all BPSS vetting carried out by Credit Check Services, a summary of the screening is detailed below:
- Verification of identity
- Verification of nationality and immigration status
- Verification of employment history
- Verification of criminal record
